A Passion for Being an Entrepreneur (Turning the Table on Troy)

Story Categories

This week on the Cape Ann Conversations podcast, the table gets turned on host Troy Scarbrough, who is now in the “hot seat” as the new owner of Nor’East Cleaners. Steamography’s founder and owner, Andrew Nicastro, takes on the role of interviewer, speaking with Troy about his newest entrepreneurial endeavor.

For nearly six decades, Nor’East Cleaners has been a trusted, locally owned institution providing exceptional garment care to the communities of Manchester-by-the-Sea and Gloucester. Known for its meticulous hand finishing, thorough inspections (including checking for missing buttons, broken zippers, and torn seams), and thoughtful customer service, the business combines attention to detail with environmentally friendly practices.

In June 2025, entrepreneur and Essex local Troy Scarbrough acquired the business and immediately infused it with renewed energy and a customer-first mindset. He has kept the entire existing team of 26 valued employees on board and even brought his daughter, Grace, into the fold to help manage the day-to-day operations . Scarbrough emphasizes being hands-on and accessible—whether tailoring, restoring a wedding gown, providing convenient home delivery, or wash and fold services—he aims to elevate the customer experience through personalized attention, faster responsiveness, and daily on-site leadership.
