Cape Ann Winterlife

When you think of Cape Ann, it’s not unusual for summertime beaches, fishing boats and our many wonderful artists to come to mind. Or you may think back to those afternoons when you sat outdoors munching on fried clams or a lobster roll.


While you won’t be wearing shorts and flip-flops, you can still enjoy the beach, watch the boats and artists, and savor our famous Cape Ann seafood. In fact, nearly everything the other seasons offer is here for you in the winter — and some things are even better this time of year!

Winter is the perfect time to come here to take a yoga class, enjoy a quiet dinner, listen to some live music, or celebrate one of the winter holidays. You’ll find that many restaurants and other favorite stops across Cape Ann have specials throughout the off-season.


So come “chill out” on Cape Ann and take in the very different experience of our region offers in the winter months. Visit all four communities — Essex, Gloucester, Manchester-by-the-sea and Rockport — and see the shops and galleries, restaurants and night spots, beaches and rivers, parks and trails, and other wonders of Cape Ann Winterlife.
