City of Gloucester Visitor Center at Stage Fort Park

Stage Fort Park Visitor Center is located in one of the oldest parts of Gloucester and offers spectacular panoramic views of the sea. Stage Fort Park also has beaches, historic monuments, a dog park, playgrounds and parking. The park was home to Native Americans before becoming the first permanent settlement of the Dorchester Company. The earliest English settlers built their fish stages here for drying and storing fish. Later a fort was built for the defense of the harbor against the British in the Revolutionary War.
